HC Deb 13 February 1947 vol 433 c80W
54. Mr. A. Lewis

asked the Minister of Labour why the scheme for an exchange of chefs cooks, etc., between this country and Switzerland was left in the hands of the Hotel and Restaurant Association, without any consultation with the trade unions; and whether he will make the committee concerned truly representative of the employers and trade unions.

Mr. Isaacs

This scheme is one agreed between the Association mentioned and the Swiss. Hotel Association. In view of the benefits of such exchanges to young hotel employees, I have agreed to facilitate the admission of Swiss nationals for the purpose. As regards the last part of the Question, it is for the unions to make any desired approach to the Association
