HC Deb 12 February 1947 vol 433 cc75-6W
101. Mr. Joynson-Hicks

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty how many ratings are undergoing vocational training in manning depots in the respective employments of bricklayers, plumbers and decorators; and how many of them have enjoyed practical ex- perience in their respective vocations by improving the conditions in the depots.

Mr. J. Dugdale

The numbers at present attending pre-vocational courses in the educational vocational training centres attached to the manning depots are as follow: bricklaying 15, plumbing 25, decorating 29. E.V.T. Courses do not exceed one month, and generally speaking it is not practicable to employ E.V.T. trainees on improving conditions in the barracks.
