113. Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power how many factories and work places were closed down or working only part time as a result of the cut in coal supplies during each week between 1st January and 7th February.

Mr. Gaitskell

The figures available, how stoppages of work at industrial premises consuming more than 100 tons of coal per annum, resulting from shortage of coal due to all causes. Separate figures for closure r part time working consequential upon the introduction of the revised coal allocation scheme on 201–11 January are not available.
