HC Deb 10 February 1947 vol 433 cc26-7W
Major Legge-Bourke

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what arrangements have been made for persons on official investigations in zones other than British in Germany, to be provided with the necessary currency and other facilities to enable them to carry out their work; and if he has taken any steps to arrange with the French and U.S. military governments to assist such persons passing through their respective zones.

Mr. J. Hynd

Official investigators are provided in this country with British Armed Forces Vouchers, Control Office letters of credit and American Express Dollar Travellers' Cheques, which enable them to draw adequate supplies of the currencies they require in the French and American zones. The British authorities in Germany provide them with transport which can be taken into the other Western zones. Reciprocal arrangements which include the provision of accommodation, have been made with the U.S. and French Military Governments for facilitating these visits.
