§ 104. Mr. Ernest Daviesasked the Minister of Labour the reason for the dismissal of women conductors employed by the L.P.T.B., despite the continuing manpower shortage.
§ Mr. Ness EdwardsThe discharge of women conductors by the London Passenger Transport Board, which I understand has now been discontinued, is a matter for the Board. I would point out, however, that the shortage of women for22W employment in London is more serious than that of men, and any women conductors discharged will be easily placed in other work for which they are urgently needed.
