Major Wise

asked the Minister of Agriculture the total number of officers and other employees, respectively, of the county A.E.Cs. in England and Wales at present; and how these figures compare with the numbers employed in these categories in July, 1945.

The total numbers of persons employed by county war agricultural executive committees at present are 9,900 officers, including clerks and typists, and 38,600 other employees. The corresponding figures for July, 1945, were 10,100and 44,900.

asked the Minister of Agriculture the number of county A.E.Cs. in England and Wales; in what counties two or more separate committees have been set up; to what extent counties have been amalgamated for organisation purposes; and how many district committees are at present functioning.

There are 62 committees in England and Wales, including the Isles of Scilly. Two or more separate committees have been set up in the following counties:

Cambaridgeshire (Cambridge and the Isle of Ely).

Cornwall (Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly).

Hampshire (Hampshire and the Isle of Wight).

Northamptonshire (Northampton and the Soke of Peterborough)

Suffolk (East and West).

Sussex (East and West)

Three committees have been set up in Lincolnshire (Lincoln, Kesteven and Holland) and in Yorkshire (East, North and West Ridings). No counties have been amalgamated for organisation purposes. The number of district committees which are at present functioning is 416.
