HC Deb 05 February 1947 vol 432 cc343-4W
17. Sir G. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he will consider organising the R.O.C. on a voluntary basis, in view of the small annual grants which are now offered.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

I think the hon. and gallant Member is under a misapprehension. Except for 57 full-time officers, the members of the Royal Observer Corps are all unpaid volunteers. They will receive small annual grants to meet the incidental expenses of their service.

18. Sir G. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he will give instructions that a supply of small envelopes shall be delivered to the R.O.C. Headquarters, Stanmore, so that foolscap envelopes need not be used to enclose one small sheet of paper

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

The Royal Observer Corps is supplied with small envelopes and with labels for using envelopes a second time. If the hon. and gallant Member will send me any evidence he may have about the misuse of foolscap envelopes, I will examine it with interest and care.
