HC Deb 05 February 1947 vol 432 cc349-50W
65. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that many chemists in South Wales have received no supply of olive oil for medicinal purposes for many months; and whether, in view of its necessity, he will arrange for the importation of larger supplies.

Dr. Summerskill

We were unable to get enough olive oil to meet our requirements for medicinal purposes in 1946. Producing countries retained most of their own production. We are hoping to obtain increased quantities in the future. So far as I am aware, South Wales has received its share of the limited supplies available but if my hon. Friend will give me the names of any chemists who have been unable to get supplies I will gladly investigate.
