HC Deb 05 February 1947 vol 432 c355W
81. Mr. Edward Davies

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what was the average food ration, in calories, supplied in Wuppertal for the weeks ending 20th and 27th January, respectively; and what is the present position.

Mr. J. Hynd

The average ration supplied in Wuppertal was equivalent to 1,320 calories per day in the week ended i9th January and 990 calories per day in the week ended 26th January. For the week just ended the figure was between 1,200 and 1,300 calories per day. The shortages have been caused by transport difficulties resulting from severe weather conditions. All possible steps are being taken to improve distribution so that the deficiencies can be made up and ration cards fully honoured.
