HC Deb 04 February 1947 vol 432 c337W
Major Beamish

asked the Minister of Pensions why persons in receipt of permanent disablement pensions are not allowed to commute their pensions; and whether he will now allow this.

Mr. Wilfred Paling

Commutation of disablement pensions was suspended a t the outbreak of war. It is still in suspense and I do not propose to revive it. Experience has shown that, in general, commutation is not to the ultimate advantage of the pensioner.
