HC Deb 04 February 1947 vol 432 cc325-6W
Major Legge-Bourke

asked the Secretary of State for War how many men graded C 1 in health are at present serving overseas; what conditions govern men in this category regarding service; and how long it is intended to retain such men in the service both at home and overseas.

Mr. Bellenger

No figures are available of the total number of men graded C 1 serving overseas and they could not be obtained without checking the individual records of all soldiers serving overseas. Overseas service for men of this medical category is limited according to the medical and physical capabilities of the individual as determined by Medical Boards. Provided such men are able to do a useful day's work in any capacity they are retained in the Army, either at home or overseas, until they become due for release in the normal way.
