HC Deb 03 February 1947 vol 432 c286W
90. Commander Maitland

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that a railway ban was imposed on goods travelling from Chester to the east of England on 1st January, 1947; how long this ban will be in force; and when normal goods traffic between the west of England and Lincolnshire will be in full operation.

Mr. Barnes

Rail traffic from Chester and the adjacent area to Lincolnshire has been affected by the restrictions on acceptance of traffic imposed by the railway companies because of shortage of locomotive power and the need to ensure the movement of coal. These restrictions will be lifted as soon as conditions permit.
