HC Deb 03 February 1947 vol 432 c299W
Mr. Paget

asked the Secretary of State for War why a trooper, whose name has been communicated, was refund permission to delay his demobilisation on the grounds that he wished to marry a German girl; and whether it is the Government's policy to refuse to retain in the Forces men who desire to marry Germans

Mr. Bellenger

This soldier applied to defer his release for six months but his application was refused because he could not be regarded as fulfilling the necessary condition of being suitable in all respects for employment in his existing or in a higher rank in his own arm of the Service or in extra regimental employment. The refusal of his application was not based on his desire to marry a German.
