HC Deb 03 February 1947 vol 432 cc288-9W
98. Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Minister of Supply if he is aware that manufacturers of engines for fishing vessels cannot offer delivery under two years; that this is causing hindrance to the development of the fishing fleets and much hardship to ex-Servicemen now trying to resume activities in the fishing industry; and what action he is taking to expedite delivery of these engines.

Mr. Wilmot

Several manufacturers are quoting delivery periods averaging nine months and only one is quoting two years. At my request they are making special efforts to meet the needs of fishermen.
