§ Commander Maitlandasked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that there is a shortage of mild steel or copper 440W rivets which are used in the repair of binder sheets and similar work by saddlers; and what action he is taking to see that rivets are available in 1948 for the large amount of urgent and essential repairs always necessary during harvest time.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussWe were not aware of a shortage of rivets for use by saddlers until a complaint, in general terms, was received by my Department recently. We have asked for fuller details, so that we can investigate the matter thoroughly, but these have not yet been received.
