HC Deb 19 December 1947 vol 445 cc439-40W
Commander Maitland

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that there is a shortage of mild steel or copper rivets which are used in the repair of binder sheets and similar work by saddlers; and what action he is taking to see that rivets are available in 1948 for the large amount of urgent and essential repairs always necessary during harvest time.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

We were not aware of a shortage of rivets for use by saddlers until a complaint, in general terms, was received by my Department recently. We have asked for fuller details, so that we can investigate the matter thoroughly, but these have not yet been received.
