HC Deb 19 December 1947 vol 445 c449W
Air-Commodore Harvey

asked the Minister of Education why the Athey Street Nursery, Macclesfield, has been partially closed down; and if he is aware that this new arrangement will cause many mothers now at work in industry to give up their employment.

Mr. Tomlinson

I understand that the arrangements for the preparation of meals at the nursery class proved to be unsatisfactory and that provision for children who come early and stay late and require meals other than the school dinner has been discontinued. The position is to be considered further by the local education authority today and I will write to the hon. and gallant Member when I know the result.
