Mr. Gallacher

asked the Minister of Transport what the the comparative freight charges by sea per ton for coal, bricks, timber, cement, and general merchandise, respectively, between Glasgow or other Clyde ports and Castlebay, Barra; Stornoway; Belfast; and Sydney, Australia; and whether he will cause the freights charged to the Highlands and Islands to be reduced.

The wreck is being removed by the British Iron and Steel Corporation (Salvage) Ltd., as agents for the Ministry of Supply, and I am advised that the work is expected to be completed in the next three months.
