HC Deb 19 December 1947 vol 445 c450W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Education how many students admitted to one-year courses at emergency training colleges have, since October, 1945, when the first London college was established, resigned before the termination of their training or, alternatively, after finishing their training, have indicated that they have no intention of teaching in the National Schools.

Mr. Tomlinson

Out of a total of some 19,000 students admitted to colleges since the beginning of the Emergency Training Scheme, 353 have voluntarily withdrawn after starting their training. No students, having finished their training, have indicated that they have no intention of teaching in State-aided schools.
