HC Deb 19 December 1947 vol 445 c464W
Mr. Heathcoat Amory

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the long waiting lists for telephone connections in rural areas in Devon and the present inadequacy of communications aggravated by the abolition of the basic petrol ration, he will ensure that a higher proportion of the resources available for telephone extensions are allotted to country districts.

Mr. Wilfred Paling

Yes. I propose to divert more labour and supplies to the provision of essential telephone service in country districts, including service for farmers.
