asked the Minister of Food how many bull calves were killed and sold to his Department in Great Britain and also in Northern Ireland during the last 12 months for which figures are available.

Mr. Strachey

The numbers of bull calves purchased for slaughter in the 12 months ended 31st October, 1947, were 1,248,637 in Great Britain and 25,493 in Northern Ireland.
