HC Deb 19 December 1947 vol 445 cc468-9W
Mr. Charles Smith

asked the Secretary of State for War the cost of baking bread per 280 lb. sack of flour in a representative large Army static bakery; and whether he will break down the cost into convenient elements including if possible the cost of flour, other ingredients, fuel, labour and depreciation of equipment.

Mr. Shinwell

It has not yet been possible to reintroduce the detailed costing of War Department bakery accounts. Consequently no figures are available from which the information requested by my hon. Friend could be obtained.
