§ 144. Mr. Shurmerasked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the concern of people whose houses were destroyed by enemy action, as a result of the recent decision given by a Court of Appeal that complete destruction of a house by bombing brings a tenancy to an end; and what immediate steps he is prepared to take to protect these people.
§ 152. Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the recent judgment by which it was held that when a dwelling-house which was controlled under the Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest Restrictions Acts has been destroyed in consequence of enemy action, the tenant of that dwelling-house is not entitled to a tenancy of a dwelling-house which is built in place of the destroyed dwelling-house; and what steps he proposes to take in order to deal with this position.
§ Mr. BevanMy attention has been drawn to this recent decision and the position is being considered. I can however hold out no hope of early legislation.
