§ Mr. Hastingsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the death rate from diabetes in the joint British and American zone of Germany at the present time; and whether he has any figures to show how it compares with the death rate for the same disease in Germany five years and 10 years ago.
§ Mr. MayhewThe death rate from diabetes in the British zone at the present time is 1.3 per 10,000 of the population. The comparable rate for the whole of Germany for 1940, the last year for which complete figures are available, was 2.1. The rate for 1937 was 2.0. I have no figures for the American zone.
