HC Deb 15 December 1947 vol 445 cc291-2W
125. Mr. H. D. Hughes

asked the Minister of Works what consideration has been given to the installation of modern British furniture and fittings in part of the new Embassy at Rome; and what authorities on modern design have been consulted in this matter.

Mr. Key

Until proposals to acquire a permanent Embassy Residence in Rome have made further headway it would be premature to settle the furnishing scheme. It has been suggested that part of any new Embassy should be furnished and fitted as an example of modern British design and this proposal will be considered in due course.
