§ Sir E. Graham-Littleasked the Minister of Education what proportion of the £49 million allocated for school buildings up to June, 1948, is to be spent on permanent building, and prefabricated structures, respectively; how many of the latter come into the category reviewed and condemned by a Special Committee of the R.I.B.A. in 1946 as constituting a menace to health, and as unsuitable for the purposes intended.
§ Mr. TomlinsonThe sum of £49 million represents not the amount allocated for school buildings up to June, 1948, but the total estimated cost of the two current educational building programmes for projects of £5,000 and over. Since by no means all the plans concerned have yet been submitted to the Ministry it is not possible at this stage to state in what proportions various types of construction will be used.
