The annual acreage cleared by Government elsewhere for settlement in Newfoundland is as follows: 1943, 213 acres; 1944, 626 acres; 1945, 642 acres; 1946, 518 acres; 1947, 636 acres. No figures are available in respect of land clearing by private individuals. Available records do not differentiate between established and extended Government holdings.
