HC Deb 11 December 1947 vol 445 c232W
83. Mr. Lipson

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will increase the supply of mending wool in the Cheltenham area where there is acute shortage.

Mr. Belcher

There is a general shortage of mending wool but I am not aware that it is greater in the Cheltenham area than elsewhere. Steps were taken in June last to raise the production of mending wool and, though the full effect will not be felt for some time, supplies for the July to September period showed an increase of 10 per cent. over the corresponding quarter of 1946.
