HC Deb 04 December 1947 vol 445 c99W
88. Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he is aware that the staff of the regional petroleum officer at Tunbridge Wells is at present inadequate to deal with applications and to interview applicants; and if he will take steps to remedy this position.

Mr. Gaitskell

The staff of the regional petroleum office at Tunbridge Wells has been increased by 43 since 1st September, and is now staffed to the limit of its accommodation. New applications are now being dealt with normally within about 10 days of their receipt. The present facilities for dealing with the quite exceptional rush of callers are admittedly inadequate and the necessary steps to make the requisite structural alterations were put in hand some time ago.
