§ 93. Mr. Skinnardasked the Minister of Supply whether he will make a statement on the second and final Report of the Committee set up under the Chairmanship of Lord Justice Evershed to undertake investigation into the cotton textile machinery industry.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussThe Report was published on 28th November, and I am now considering it in consultation with my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade. Discussions have been opened by the Board of Trade with representatives of the cotton industry about the supply position of automatic looms. The remainder of the Report relating to other machinery confirms the Government's existing policy of encouraging new technical developments while permitting imports essential to fill gaps in the equipment of the textile industry.
