Mr. Skeffington-Lodgeasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will make a statement which will take account of the widespread concern and the formal objections already made about the proposal to acquire permanently for Army training purposes 10,000 acres of common land to the South-West of Coniston Water in the Lake District.
§ Mr. BellengerThe future permanent use of this area is a matter which will be considered by the Inter-Departmental Committee on Service Land Requirements, and until that Committee have completed their consideration, which will take into account any local objections and the effect on amenities, I am unable to make a more detailed statement.
