HC Deb 04 August 1947 vol 441 cc123-4W
105. Sir J. Lucas

asked the Minister of Education if, in view of the large number of young people wishing to make exchange visits here and abroad, he will give financial support to all competent societies who are willing to undertake the organisation of this service, in view of the chaotic conditions now existing; and if steps will be taken to co-ordinate such services.

Mr. Tomlinson

I cannot undertake to give financial support to all the organisations which are concerned with arrangements for these exchange visits. I recognise, however, the need for co-ordinating these services and with this object in view I am in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary, with representatives of the local education authorities, the teachers' organisations and with other Departments concerned.
