HC Deb 04 August 1947 vol 441 c121W
103. Mr. Sutcliffe

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps have been taken by his Department to preserve in good condition stocks of surplus rubber boots and to ensure that these are distributed as soon as possible in this country for civilian use.

Mr. Belcher

Arrangements have been in in operation for nearly three years to avoid any waste of surplus rubber boots, whether new or part worn, and to recondition those requiring it. Over 3 million pairs of boots have been handled through the Board of Trade, and those fit for wear have been distributed through ordinary trade channels to the public or to other users.
