HC Deb 04 August 1947 vol 441 c118W
89. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Transport why, in view of the fact that reservations for railway journeys are restricted, seats were reserved on the 10.57 a.m. train, which was crowded from Waterloo to Portsmouth on 18th July, 1947, for officials of the Racecourse Betting Control Board travelling to Esher, particulars of which have been sent to him; and if he will take steps to ensure that the regulations are observed in future.

Mr. Barnes

The regulations in force permit the railway companies to make reservations by prior arrangement for organised parties.
