HC Deb 01 August 1947 vol 441 cc96-7W
Mr. Vane

asked the Secretary of State for War how many ex-enemy army horses have been brought from Europe to this country since the war; and what are the rules governing the import of such animals.

Mr. Bellenger

One hundred and forty-one, apart from a few recently brought over from Germany for use at the Horse Show or other displays, which will be returned shortly. The rules governing the import of horses into this country are contained in the Importation of Horses, Asses and Mules (Great Britain) Order of 1938, published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
