§ Sir J. Lucasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware that eight ex-internees sailed on s.s "Samjack" from Shanghai on 8th October but owing to a mishap to the ship, they have only just arrived in Britain; and whether he will give instructions that these internees shall have the same rights as regards clothing coupons, free medical treatment, etc., as if they had arrived at the proper time.
§ Mr. MayhewThe special circumstances have been taken into account and provision will be made for the eight persons concerned. Applications for medical treatment, it required, should be received at the Ministry of Health by 31st May next. Applications for clothing coupons will be considered on their merits, if received at the Board of Trade, 91, Victoria Street, S.W.I, by the same date
