§ 50. Mr. Bramallasked the Minister of Labour whether he will revise the present scale of maintenance grants to students under the further education and training scheme, which result in certain cases in students receiving smaller grants than those received by students maintained by the Ministry of Education, even when they are doing the same work at the same institutions and living in the same place.
§ Mr. IsaacsNo, Sir. The grants paid by the Ministry of Education are calculated in relation to University costs, which do not affect the courses for which I am responsible. They also include the cost of books, for which payment is made separately by my Department. Any adjustments to meet the occasional anomalies which arise would only produce further anomalies.
