§ 29. Mr. Dodds-Parkerasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will consider allowing firms which increase their exports to hard-currency areas to obtain a certain percentage of the value of such increase for the purchase of further raw materials from hard-currency areas.
§ Mr. BelcherThe import of raw materials from hard currency areas for processing or manufacture into products for export to those areas is not subject to restriction, provided that no alternative source of those materials is available, and the supply position permits after the essential needs of home consumption have been met. Any arrangement on the lines suggested would not, therefore, appear to be necessary.
