§ 78. Mr. Medlicottasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that his Department has granted a licence for the importation of substantial numbers of flower boxes from Holland and that this will operate to the detriment of box manufacturers in this country, particularly makers of fruit, flower and tomato boxes in Norfolk; and if he will look into the position with a view to having these importations stopped or appreciably reduced.
§ Mr. BelcherTwo licences only have been granted for the import of flower boxes from Holland. These were intended for the special purposes of the Christmas trade. With regard to the latter part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Enfield (Mr. Ernest Davies) on 21st October last about imports from countries whose economies have been disrupted by war.
