99. Lady Grantasked the President of the Board of Trade if he has been able to make arrangements for a high fuel priority for paper mills which produce specialised base papers for drawing office use in the engineering industry
§ 102. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the shortage of ferro-prussiate and Dyeline papers required in Aberdeen engineering drawing offices and that this shortage is retarding engineering production there, the bulk of which is required for production; and what steps he proposes to take to rectify this.
§ Mr. BelcherI am aware that supplies of these specialised papers are not sufficient to meet full requirements, owing to the shortage of fuel, but all possible steps are being taken to increase production. All paper mills receive the basic allocation which has recently been increased to 50 per cent. and in many cases producers of these special papers are being given supplementary allocations. In addition, mills which manufacture a variety of types of paper have been asked to give priority to these and certain other special papers.
