HC Deb 17 April 1947 vol 436 cc32-3W
40. Mr. W. Fletcher

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will give an overriding guarantee to those who have installed, or are willing to install, oil-burning plants as a substitute for coal-burning plants, both in industry and for domestic purposes, that the necessary oil will be available; and for what length of time, and at what price, such guarantee will be given.

Mr. Shinwell

The present oil supply programme provides for the fuel oil requirements of all consumers authorised to convert from coal to oil. Provision will also be made in programmes for future years to meet the fuel oil requirements of such consumers. It is not possible to give any undertaking with regard to prices, but every effort will be made to keep them at the lowest possible level.
