HC Deb 17 April 1947 vol 436 cc27-8W
13. Mr. Renton

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the continuing shortage of large sizes of men's shirts, underwear and other garments; and what further steps he is taking to overcome that shortage.

Sir S. Cripps

As a result of the fuel shortage, there was a fall in the production of all types of men's clothing. Output is, however, being maintained at the highest levels which supplies of cloth and yarn permit and manufacturers are making a full range of sizes in shirts and underwear.
