HC Deb 17 April 1947 vol 436 c39W
Mr. Sutcliffe

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why the unused hall in the grounds of Holloway Prison cannot be used by Borstal girls now in the prison who have inadequate accommodation for recreation.

Mr. Ede

This building was constructed as a workshop, but it has not been possible to use it for any purpose during the winter, because heating is not yet available. It is at present being used for educational classes and recreation both by Borstal girls and also, at separate times, by other inmates of the prison.
