HC Deb 03 April 1947 vol 435 c374W
Mr. Touche

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he is aware that there are a number of parents of airmen whose graves are in St. Doulchard cemetery, near Bourges, who have informed the casualty branch of his Department of their desire to attend the ceremony to be held at St. Doulchard on Easter Sunday, but are unable to do so as they cannot obtain travelling accommodation; and if he will make special arrangements in order to enable them to be present at the ceremony.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

Yes, Sir. The graves of the aircrews buried in St. Doulchard cemetery are to be moved to a special plot, which has been set aside by the people of St. Doulchard, and a memorial service is to be held on Easter Sunday. Unfortunately, we were only given a fortnight's notice of the ceremony and I understand that the few relatives who could have made the journey have been unable to get passages to France because of the holiday traffic. I much regret that there are no public arrangements that could be made to help these relatives.
