HC Deb 03 April 1947 vol 435 c373W
Sir W. Darling

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation why Turnhouse, Edinburgh, is unable to receive aircraft while Renfrew can, in view of the fact that their equipment is similar.

Mr. Lindgren

Charter aircraft have been able to use Turnhouse for some months and regular services from London and Aberdeen with medium size aircraft will start as soon as the full necessary range of navigational aids for such aircraft has been installed and is in working order. Renfrew has been open for use by regular services with smaller type aircraft requiring fewer navigational aids and its use will be extended as further aids are installed.
