asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what is the quantity of briquettes made in Scotland; and what steps have been taken to increase production.

The quantities of briquettes made in Scotland in 1946 was 118,000 tons. Most of the briquettes manufacturing capacity in Scotland has now vested in the National Coal Board who have informed us that their future production policy is at present under active consideration.
