HC Deb 03 April 1947 vol 435 c368W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Supply to what extent materials including civilian type motor cars, C.A.V. electrical equipment, tarpaulins and waterproof sheets, paid for out of Treasury funds, have been destroyed at breakdown depots, in particular at Depot No. 54, Sheffield, without having been offered for sale; what is the estimated total value of these articles at current prices; whether any order to destroy such goods is still operative; and if he will hold a public inquiry forthwith into the disposal of all stores at breakdown depôts over the past two years.

Mr. Wilmot

Standing instructions to all breakdown depots provide that no materials should be destroyed if they are of value for civilian or Government purposes, and so far as I am aware these instructions have been carried out. I do not consider there are any grounds for a public inquiry.
