HC Deb 03 April 1947 vol 435 c344W
Mr. Baker White

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has considered a petition to the hon. Member for Canterbury, of which a copy has been sent to him, signed by 58 expectant mothers and drawing attention to their inability to purchase supplies of baby wool in the town; and if he will take action to relieve this shortage.

Sir S. Cripps

Supplies of baby wool are short generally due to shortage of labour and fuel in the wool industry, but I am not aware that the Whitstable and Canterbury district is less well supplied than other areas. In view, however, of the petition sent to me by the hon. Member, I am asking my regional distribution officer to make inquiries.
