HC Deb 02 April 1947 vol 435 c334W
115. Mr. Edward Davies

asked the President of the Board of Trade what supplies of tobacco are expected during the next 12 months from Southern Rhodesia, Greece, Turkey and India; and whether these quantities represent an increase on previous importations.

Mr. Wilson

It is impossible to forecast how much tobacco is likely to be obtained from these sources during the next 12 months. The quantities depend in large part on local conditions which are outside our control.

116. Mr. Edward Davies

asked the President of the Board of Trade what action is being taken to reduce the importation of tobacco from the dollar area and to increase supplies from other countries.

Mr. Wilson

I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement I made during the Debate on the. Adjournment on 27th March.
