§ 108. Mr. Skinnardasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if his attention has been drawn to the communication headed D.N.A. 4A, received this month by women employed at the Harrow section of his Department, in which the recipients are informed that they are unable to carry out their work with due efficiency and will be among the first to be discharged when a state of redundancy has been reached; and whether, as the efficiency of these women will be impaired by such information, he will have the notices withdrawn in the case of employees it is intended to retain.
§ Mr. W. J. EdwardsThe communication in question was made in accordance with the agreed report of the National Whitley Council Committee on the release and discharge of redundant temporary staff. This provides that temporary clerks who have been found unable to carry out the duties of their grade with due efficiency should be discharged first. In reply to the last part of the Question, it is not intended to retain any employees at Harrow who have received notices.
