HC Deb 02 April 1947 vol 435 c333W
111. Mr. Osborne

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General why a parcel was accepted at the head post office, Grimsby, containing a 5-lb. cake made of ingredients saved from family rations, addressed to a daughter in Canada for her 21st birthday, and after II days' delay returned to the sender; and if he will see that Post Office officials are made aware of food regulations and so save the public from unnecessary disappointments.

Mr. Burke

I regret that this parcel was wrongly accepted by the Grimsby Head Post Office without the normal food office stamp, which led to its subsequent return by the Customs authorities. I can assure the hon. Member that Post Offices generally are well aware of the regulation about food parcels.
